User Modifications for the Dragonfly™

Increasing Traction

Some users have noted that the front wheel slips when going up an incline. There are several ways to remedy this:

  1. Make sure the front tire is as close to your feet as possible.
  2. Only inflate the tire to the lower end of its recommended range, as this will help it be more grabby.
  3. Replace the smooth tire with a more knobby style. The front wheel is a standard size in the bicycle world, so any bike shop should be able to help you find a suitable replacement.
  4. Move your rear axles behind your center of gravity as far as possible. Some wheelchair manufacturers offer adapter kits for this purpose.
See the video from user cuphorse for a demonstration of the terrain he can cover.

Handgrips

Some users prefer to use special handgrips while operating the Dragonfly™. We recommend two, which suit most users, that can be found in our store:

  1. C5 Handcycle Grips clip into the handcycle's cranks, replacing the pedals. Beneficial for users with grip weakness.
  2. Quad Gloves uses straps and velcro to hold the hand in a comfortable position on the handcycle's pedals.
